I grew up in Mumbai, India in the mid-80s, playing video games on ZX Spectrum and TI computers, and dreaming about developing software games and animation. Inspired, I took a couple courses in BASIC and COBOL programming, since computers werent covered as part of my high school curriculum, and I decided to write an address book application. Though this was my first custom-designed application, it certainly wasnt my last. After more than 25 years in the industry, Im still involved in technology and software development and loving every minute of it.
As the vice president of technology at Razorfish, I spend half my time assisting with business development, project scoping and planning, staffing and community building. The rest is spent helping clients drive their technology strategy, and formulating architecture and detailed technical designs for their digital initiatives. My recent work experience includes building data warehouses, CMS platforms, and ecommerce platforms for clients such as Condé Nast, Dow Jones, American Red Cross, Carnival Cruise Lines and Nextel, among others.
